The Transvaal Falconry Club (TFC), established in 1985, has a rich history of fostering the art of falconry. Field meets have always been the highlights of the falconry year. For many years, these meets were held in Dullstroom, providing some of the finest hawking venues imaginable. Those who braved the cold nights at the AGS Kampeerterein Belfast, will have fond memories of superb longwing and shortwing hawking.
The club’s old records reflect many years of good falconry and membership spirit, showing the continuity of the TFC’s core established in 1985. What’s gratifying is the recent resurgence of small field meets and casual gatherings. Ironically, restrictions on gatherings have tightened communication between members. More mini-meets and gatherings have been held in the past two years than the previous ten, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and skill sharing.
There has also been a rise in new members, all flying great hawks.
